i told my roommate stephanie that i feel as if i am finally a grown up. why? because i was too busy this year to watch the oscars. i thought about skipping church but realized that was ridiculous, to stay home from my normal evening church service to watch the red carpet. after church i went for a quick run church, sent a few work emails, and was asleep by 10 pm, ready for an early monday morning alarm clock. well, this past friday night after janet jackson (yes, i said janet jackson, more on that later) i watched some of it on dvr playback, and watched the rest this morning while working on some school stuff.ah, the oscars. i love movies, i love good actors like natalie portman, jeff bridges, eli wallach, colin firth, sandra bullock, meryl streep, tom hanks.
i know that celebrity magazines and sky high movie ticket prices and overpaid actors and directors are reasons not to love the oscars, but i can't help myself. films have a way of impacting society and telling important stories. (ie look who's coming to dinner. the blindside. last king of scotland. the kings speech.) they are also to be works of art and entertain millions of viewers. (ie E.T. titantic. jerry macquire.)
anyways, yay for the oscars. yay for acceptance speeches and great movies and weird movies and the ability to express yourself. yay for gywenth paltrow singing.
and, if you haven't seen it, rush to your nearest red box as soon as "The Kings Speech" becomes available. Incredible.
