"into marvelous light i'm running...
by the cross you are the way, the truth, the life.

lift my hands and spin around, see the light that i have found
oh the marvelous light, the marvelous light!"

public school 22 sings at the oscars!

i first heard about ps 22 from staten island new york when i was at teach for america institute, our "bootcamp" five weeks of training to become... teachers? or something kind of like it.

one sarah burks and i became best friends in a matter of hours when we met at houston institute. through all of our diet coke explosions, runs around rice university (and me getting us lost,) frozen yogurt expeditions, and long conversations on a school bus at 6:30 am, we did actually get some work done. but, when while we were working late into the night, we would send each other different you tube videos we had found. somewhere along the way, we came across ps 22 and their magical musical skills.

this fifth grade chorus from staten island new york is taught by a dynamic teacher (no, he's from not teach for america) and they have numerous you tube songs where they rock out.

i've shown one video to my class, watched it throughout the year for inspiration, and just genuinely think the teacher and his students are super talented year after year.

well, the beautiful anne hathaway brought them to the oscars to sing at the conclusion of the awards ceremony. check it out.
