yesterday's post was a bit of a debbie downer. good thing God provides me with much to laugh about every day so i'm not in a constant state of dark thoughts.
i fell down today. i tripped and ended up bloody and laughing. a more accurate description?
my feet didn't see the tree roots jutting out in front of them while i was running at memorial park. my body went flying through the air and before i knew it, i was on my hands and knees, stunned. i hopped up as quickly as possible, tried to look cool...thank goodness the papparazzi weren't following me at this point...i walked forward a few steps, moved to the right of the trail to bend down and get a look at the damage. definitely embarrassed, definitely in pain. i pulled some gravel out of my hands and didn't really want to look at my knees. there was already some blood trickling down my shins.
too bad i was running alone because a) i was making great time and my brother wasn't there to witness it and b) there was no one to laugh at me. (except a handful of strangers that felt too bad for me to even smile)...worst? there was no one to carry me back to the car. i had to finish the next 2 miles with blood running down my shins, and i was meeting up with someone afterwards, so i had to actually run and didn't have time to just be a baby about the bleeding and walk slowly the rest of the way.
there's still some gravel stuck in my knee caps. my ipod is still dusty. but i laughed really hard at myself today, which is a great thing. darned tree roots. i hope they're as sore as i am right now.
